Collard Greens Series

Last year my soul was longing to reconnect to my family.  Prior I relocated to Atlanta in hopes to flourish in my artistic career.  I was growing but home was continuously on my mind; so after 8 years of building in Georgia; I decided to move bak home.

During my stay the Collard Greens series grew in my own backyard. This magical vegetable was a staple for my family.  It was the glue to our gatherings and the core of my community bringing my family together.

The first image created was "The Recipe."  A charcoal drawing made at a time when I felt loss not knowing which way to grow. I was yearning for family and love.  While creating this piece I discovered many things about my self and my journey.  I grew and healed as I created and connected to a story that I believe could unite us all.
